Frequently asked questions
How does the word counter work?
The counter splits your text on whitespace in real time as you type, giving instant counts without any server requests. Empty lines and extra spaces are ignored.
What is reading time based on?
Reading time uses 238 words per minute, the average adult silent reading speed. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, typical for presentations.
How is the Flesch readability score calculated?
We use the Flesch Reading Ease formula: 206.835 − 1.015×(words÷sentences) − 84.6×(syllables÷words). Scores of 60–70 are considered plain English; 90+ is very easy to read.
Is my text stored anywhere?
No. All analysis happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to any server.
What counts as a keyword?
Common stop words (the, a, is, and, etc.) are filtered out. The top 8 remaining words by frequency are shown with their count and percentage of total words.
